These are indeed trying times!

What more do we need than reflect on the history of an institution such as the Faculty of Health Sciences, celebrating 50 years in 2020!

Although the specifics may be different, I am convinced that the lessons learnt from a challenge similar to the COVID-19 pandemic will provide comfort and solutions to the present reality. In a time of social distancing, let us be one in sharing our history and our association with a faculty that has been our second home. To address the environment of social distancing, we will shortly be releasing our book on the history of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the UFS.  I hope that this history will not only offer adequate information to appreciate the huge contribution that members of the Faculty of Health Sciences have made to health overall in the past 50 years, but also to reflect on those areas where we can do better. I sincerely hope that it serves to inspire all to do better and to achieve our best. I hope it will motivate you and leave you with a sense of pride, warm feelings of association, and belonging. May social distancing be beaten with this feeling of closeness and camaraderie.

Watch this space and enjoy reading the book!
